BRANCHES

The Association is presently the umbrella body for 24 registered Branches, all of whom are registered with the Directorate for Non-Profit Organisations and comply with certain conditions laid down by the Association. Despite there being certain conditions to be met when applying for registration as a Branch of the Association, each Branch maintains its autonomy and remains the responsibility of the Management Committee by which it is run. The Association performs an advisory, consultative and supervisory service to Branches.

Branches are divided into area specific and function specific, i.e. Branches serving a specific area or providing a specific service. Branches employing social workers are to be found in the following areas:

Cape Town
George
Knysna
Olifantsrivier
Oudtshoorn
Paarl
Tygerberg
West Coast

Each of these Branches render social services to persons with physical disabilities, and in so doing, run specific projects, including protective workshops and day care centres.

Branches performing specific functions include 4 group homes, two day care centres, a computer bureau and a Branch specialising in the design and manufacture of assistive devices.
