Improving the visibility of persons with disabilities in the community.   Projects - click on images below for more information   Awareness   Our approach for community awareness is 3-pronged –   • To develop an open, informed society which includes persons with disabilities on all levels; • To empower persons with disabilities with knowledge in order for them to be able to speak for themselves • To work towards the prevention of physical disability     Marketing of our services is essential in ensuring that our services reach all those who are able to benefit from them. In so doing, the public is also made aware of disability and misconceptions and myths surrounding disability are dispelled. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate in awareness raising, and are provided with accredited training in order to equip them with the skills required to represent themselves.   The various tools used in achieving these aims include exhibitions and talks, displays, radio, print and social media, sensitisation workshops, and awareness campaigns.                 2010 © Western Cape APD.
